Trust your purpose

July 22, 2014

A huge topic we've been discussing within Lotus is Purpose. Do you know what your purpose is? Are you following it? Do you trust it?

I've come across and studied many successful people and aspiring entrepreneurs. And by success, I'm not only talking about wealth in assets. I mean those who are truly living out their dreams, passion, and purpose. It's both surprising and obvious that they all have one thing in common. They succeeded in doing what they LOVE. These individuals can talk all day about their purpose and can easily spend most of their free time in pursuit of their craft. And I wondered, how did they manage to trust their purpose and attract the right opportunities, despite negativity or setbacks in life? It dawned on me that its nothing more than perspective. What you tell your mind can shape your reality.

I've broken up with Ego and am faithful to Light.

There are voices of fear, doubt, and discouragement that can make you believe your dreams are not valid. For the longest time, I thought the only way to stop it is to get rid of it. But how do you get rid of it? An amazing thing I've learned from a dear friend recently is this --  those voices will never completely go away. How fantastic is that?! The pressure is off; you don't need to get rid of them to reach your dreams. They may taunt you, but they are powerless without your consent. What you need to do is learn how to live with them, knowing you do not surrender to them. My friend said to me, "You must confront them and dominate them with your UNDENIABLE COMPASSION. Sometimes, the person we forget that needs the most compassion is ourselves." This wise woman saved me from a lot of self-sabotaging heartache. I'm passing this gift of knowledge to you, in hopes it can help you too. Perspective is just a shift in thinking.

Remember that self-shame is fear covered up in an illusion, and its deceiving. You think you're being selfless and humble by not claiming your magnificence, but the truth is opposite. You're being selfish by not giving yourself to your purpose and living it out. The world benefits from people who dwell in love; not fear.

Do what is true to your soul this moment.

If you follow your passion, you will be tremendously successful. All of us are different. We all have different desires, goals, strengths, and weaknesses. You have to look within yourself and ask these questions -  what makes you leap for joy, what makes you excited, what is your bliss? The answer is your purpose. You need to follow that! You can’t trust society or what other people want for your life. The only thing you can trust is what’s deep inside yourself. It will always lead you to your life calling. Your talents are yours for a reason.

Here at Lotus, we are constantly diving into our own experiences and cataloguing what heals and shapes us, and how it all aligns with our purpose. We know we can only sustain growth if our brand and messaging is embraced by our community. We are not competing with other denim lines. The world can benefit with many expressions of beauty; Lotus Premium Denim being one of them.

If you took the time to read this far, I want you to know that the journey is the same. It doesn't matter if your passion lies in fashion, sports, music, science, art, medicine, or any other calling. The answer is the same. What you tell your mind can shape your reality. Trust your purpose.
